Place is nice, clean, and friendly service
I called them on it and the salesman, Jeremy, had to 'talk to his manager.' Fourth alarm bell. By then I was ready to walk and in fact decided to offer $200 less than the advertised price as a penalty for their dishonesty. (Who knows how many other people they've done this too? They should give me the bike for free!)
Finally, he showed me a bike that I liked in my price range, gave me a $700 trade-in offer on my old (very old) bike, and I went in to talk to the finance person, who, although very pleasant, asked me what I wanted my monthly payments to be. Second alarm bell. By giving my monthly payment wishes, she can manipulate their profit by raising the interest rate if there is room to do so.
Fast, precise service.
We worked out a deal and I was approved for the financing later that day with plans to come pick up the bike the next.
When I got back home I looked the bike up on their website and found that it was advertised at $700 less than I was buying it for. So in essence, they were making me pay for my own trade-in! Whoa. Third alarm bell.
I was not surprised when Jeremy called back about 10 minutes later and said that 'he didn't want any unhappy customers' and that I could have the bike for the advertised price. No, thank you! I went out the same day and found almost the same bike, a couple of years older, for about $2K less, ironically at the Ronnie's of Pittsfield, where I found a completely different attitude, like night and day. Even though I'm still giving Ronnie's my money and indirectly supporting the Adams store, at least the Pittsfield guys are getting the commission. They were professional, polite and very upfront about the sale.
Quick deliveries
Only place in a 100 miles that would give me a break on changing my Harley tire. Like.... less than HALF of what the dealers are charging. Great example of why it's a long lasting family run business.
He then said that his manager would meet me halfway, which was still almost $1000 above Blue Book (there were some accessories, but they definitely weren't worth $1000). I realized at this point that this business was completely dishonest and if I did buy the bike I wouldn't be able to trust them on parts, service or anything else. So I said no thanks and hung up the phone.
I went in to Ronnie's of Adams to buy a bike and at first I was ignored, I guess because I don't look like a biker, whatever that is, and then I was handed off to a shady salesman, Jeremy, who all but refused to tell me the prices of the used bikes on display (there were no prices on them) until I told him what I was looking to spend. First alarm bell. What's to stop him from increasing the value on bikes that would normally sell for less, if I can afford it?
I will never go back to Ronnie's of Adams again, for any reason. I don't care if I break down right in front of the store. I'll push the bike to Pittsfield.
When Jeremy came back on the phone he said that the web guy screwed up and put the Blue Book value on the site instead of the retail price. I however, had already looked up the value and knew that was a lie. He kept saying, come on in and we'll talk about it. More alarm bells. Once they get you in person, they can take advantage of your politeness and the hard sell continues.
